Microsoft: The seven properties of highly secure devices

This paper provides a description of Microsoft's Project Sopris. It identifies seven properties required in all highly secure devices. It then describes an experiment to revise a MediaTek microcontroller to create a prototype, highly secure microcontroller. The paper argues that even the most price-sensitive devices should be redesigned to achieve the high levels of device security critical to a safe society. The paper calls to the broader security community to engage in a dialog on device security.
