The company enjoyed a series B round of $15 million back in October 2016 when it received backing from Intel, Bosch and Nissan-Renault. The latest round includes an additional strategic investor, a global electronics giant, the company said and brings the amount raised by the company to $40 million in three years.

Prophesee is seeking to address machine vision applications in autonomous vehicles, robots, industrial automation and IoT devices.

By means of its neuromorphic architecture Prophesee can provide high-speed processing and high dynamic range at lower power and using less bandwidth than full-frame image sensors. The dynamic range of more than 120dB lets systems operate and adapt effectively in a range of challenging and changing lighting conditions. Sensors require less than and open new applications and use models for vision-enabled products.

“This latest round of financing will help us move rapidly from technology development to market deployment,” said Luca Verre, co-founder and CEO of Prophesee, in a statement. “Having the backing of our original investors, plus a world leader in electronics and consumer devices, further strengthens our strategy and will help Prophesee win the many market opportunities we are seeing.”
