Designed to better serve Matrox software users located around the world, the on-demand Matrox Vision Academy expands upon the current classroom-based on premise training sessions to help users build out skill sets and knowledge on their own timeline and from their preferred location. Based on the open, flexible learning model seen in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), Vision Academy offers anyone using MIL or Design Assistant products an incremental, self-paced, and convenient training platform for machine vision projects.
The Vision Academy utilizes leading-edge theory from educational design for short video tutorials on a number of topics like pattern recognition.

Using recordings of the well-received training sessions at Matrox headquarters as well as animated presentations created by our resident instructional design team, the Vision Academy platform has integrated intuitive tools such as a multi-stream player, allowing the user to choose the format that works for them, and video chaptering, letting users easily skip to the section of the video needed.

“The MOOC concept is proven and extremely popular with today’s learner. People are looking to on-demand courses to allow them to grasp and master a skill when and where it suits them,” comments Sam Lopez, director sales and marketing, Matrox Imaging. “This Vision Academy platform—along with the MIL CoPilot prototyping software and the Design Assistant flowchart-based integrated development environment (IDE)—show Matrox’s dedication to user experience, productivity and growth.”

MIL CoPilot is a 64-bit Windows-based application providing a unified interactive environment to learn and experiment with MIL software development kit (SDK), allowing new users an easier way to try it out and experienced programmers a way test one or more approaches to solving an application before writing any code.

Matrox Design Assistant is a first hardware-independent integrated development environment (IDE) that lets users create an application flowchart and HMI and take machine vision projects from concept to completion in record time, without the need for conventional programming.

A beta version of Matrox Vision Academy is currently available for all registered MIL and Design Assistant users with maintenance subscriptions in good standing, as well as those seeking to evaluate either software package. The trial periods for both software packages will be extended from 30 to 60 days.
