E Ink Holdings (Hsinchu, Taiwan), maker of passive black-and-white displays, is renewing a sourcing agreement with Plastic Logic GmbH (Dresden Germany), developer of thin-film transistor (TFT) backplane addressing arrays based on plastic transistors.

E Ink and Plastic Logic have been cooperating to develop the electrophoretic displays (EPDs) for more than 10 years and Plastic Logic owns organic TFT technology suitable for developing flexible EPD device in wearable applications.

The Master Supply Agreement centers on the production of flexible EPD production.

"We look forward to collaborating with E Ink on a number of customer projects over the coming month," said Tim Burne, CEO of Plastic Logic, in a statement.

Plastic Logic GmbH is what remains of the Plastic Logic founded in Cambridge, England and which split up in 2015. Plastic Logic in Cambridge, which had comprised the research and development activity was renamed as FlexEnable Ltd. The manufacturing operation in Dresden operates independently under the name Plastic Logic Germany using technology license agreements with FlexEnable.
