European skills to troubleshoot failing displays

May 17, 2017 // By Julien Happich
According to a recent evaluation, the Electronic Displays Center based in Gundersheim (Germany), industrially used displays fail more and more frequently in the field and display manufacturers and distributors are increasingly struggling with troubleshooting those.

A technology park forming a network of high-tech companies in the field of applied physics, from basic physical research to software development to expert surveys and repairs, the electronic display center aims to make the required know-how for technical solutions available on a point-by-point basis and as needed.

This expert knowledge for analysis, modification and repairs of components, embedded systems or entire device concepts can be provided and retrieved quickly, cost-effectively and efficiently. The aim of the site is to establish a technology center with many globally well-connected specialists across the topic of electronic displays and technical lighting as a one-stop contact point.

Among other things, the competence of more and more international partners is being bundled at this location.

"The Electronic Display Center not only offers the possibility to develop and make displays individually for all applications. The service portfolio also includes troubleshooting, obsolescence management as well as lighting technology measurement and qualification services for technical lighting and electronic flat-panel displays.

Recently, the technology park was extended to include possibilities and additional processes in the areas of high vacuum (room temperature to high temperature), organic and inorganic coatings as well as solid state processes with high frequency activation", says Klaus Wammes, Managing Director of Wammes & Partner GmbH and one of the drivers of the Electronic Display Center in Gundersheim.

Located in Gundersheim near Worms, the site has a total of around 4,000 square meters of offices, as well as functional and clean rooms on a 20,000 square meter site. Due to its central location within Germany, with direct access to the Autobahn A61 and an approximately 40-minute drive away from Frankfurt Airport, it is also a German branch for internationally operating companies.

In addition, the Electronic Display Center offers multipliers and integrators on a B2B level numerous possibilities to distribute the center’s services, solutions and guarantees under their own brand.
