First 100 V 10 μF MLCC capacitor

Murata has launched the world's first surface mount monolithic ceramic capacitor (MLCC) to handle 100 V at 10 μF.

The GRM32EC72A106KE05 1210 (EIA) size MLCC measures 3.2 x 2.5 mm and support 100 V at 10 μF, breaking the previous MLCC design barrier of 4.7 μF.

The GRM series capacitor uses an X7S dielectric with a +/- 10 % tolerance to give a guaranteed operating temperature up to 125 ºC. It is particularly suited for use in the 48 V DC power supply circuits of network equipment and base stations. In the past these applications have typically used two or more 2.2 and 4.7 μF capacitors. In today’s space constrained designs, the need to reduce the number of capacitors is higher as is the need for capacitors rated at 100 V DC.

The MLCCs are in volume production
