Medium-power UV LEDs target consumer UV disinfection

RayVio's XE Series of medium-power ultraviolet (UV) LEDs output up to 6 milliwatts from an ultra-compact 3535 package. With a spectral output of both 280 and 310 nanometers, the XE Series enables high volume consumer UV disinfection and phototherapy solutions.

Products such as the baby bottle sterilizer Ellie already rely on the company's XE Series UV LEDs.

At 280nm, the UV light protects against germs in water, air and on surfaces. At 310nm, it can aid in treating skin diseases including psoriasis, eczema, rickets and jaundice.

Due to its small size, the UV LED can be easily incorporated into a broad range of consumer products from toothbrushes and baby bottle sterilizers to humidifiers and refrigerators. The emitter version of the XE Series is a surface mount device that can be assembled using industry standard pick and place equipment. The Star Board option consists of an emitter mounted on to a metal core PCB that simplifies prototyping and offers higher thermal capabilities.
