Open LED protectors keeps LED strings lit

Littelfuse's PLEDxN Series of open LED protector are designed for use with high-brightness, one-watt LEDs with a nominal 350mA current at 3V.

They provide a switching electronic shunt path when a LED in a LED string or array fails as an open circuit. They are designed to reset automatically if the LED heals itself or the power is cycled. Their small-footprint SOD-123FL package housing has one of the lowest height profiles (1.1 mm) of any device of this type, claims the manufacturer, making them suitable for dense board applications that demand high layout flexibility. The surface mount PLEDxN Series open LED protectors are available in tape and reel packaging in quantities of 3,000.
