The CAN buses are plugged to the system through a D-Sub connector, enabling transfer of CAN FD data frames at speeds up to 12 Mbps. The monitoring software PCAN-View as well as several programming interfaces are available free of charge from Peak Systems. The PCAN-Basic API enables users to develop individual software with support for CAN / CAN FD. A number of additional libraries containing standardized protocols for automotive environments based on the same API are available, including PCAN-OBD-2 for the exchange of specific vehicle parameters. Driver software for Windows 7, 8 and 10 as well as for Linux are also available.
