Trameto has received an undisclosed investment from Swansea Innovations Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary company of Swanesa University that manages the commercialisation of technology. The company has also received Phase 1 grant funding for a €70,000 project under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 funding programme.

Tremento’s idea is that a single device can take inputs from any or multiple sources of single or multiple types and produce a useful output for Internet of Things nodes. The company claims that one HarvestAll PMIC can replace several others and capture up to milliwatts of energy from light, vibration and thermal gradient harvesters.

The company’s emphasis is on managing energy across multiple converters and across their operating range rather than at a particular operating point.

The company projects that in some instances battery life will be enhanced, reducing and potentially removing the need for battery replacement, In other applications using the PMICs will eliminate the need for batteries altogether, making IoT many solutions viable.

The company has yet to reveal details of its PMIC development, in terms of number and specifications of inputs and outputs or where the company plans to get the device made.

Trameto was co-founded by Huw Davies and Laurence Strong. Davies is a former co-founder and director of Audium Semiconductor Ltd. and Strong is a former director of audio products at XMOS Ltd. Trameto’s CTO is Cliff Travis who has held CTO positions with several technology startups, the most recent of which, Redux LLC, was sold to Google.
