Minima/ARM: Dynamic margining in near-threshold design
This white paper looks at the dynamic-margining approach to enable a software-programmable processor to function at its lowest possible power for any given task, data, or ambient condition. In Minima's case the company supplies both hardware and software IP to customer-specified standard components such as the Arm Cortex-M3 processor to achieve this. Together with support for a broad range of dynamic voltage and frequency scaling this allows power savings of 15x to 20x compared with nominal voltage operation, the company claims.
