Using imec frontend components allows an 0.8V supply voltage to be achieved while maintaining high RX sensitivity. The RF frontend uses a phase-tracking receiver to directly translate the RF input to demodulated digital data to create a smaller solution that costs less. For applications where the antenna impedance can vary, imec has designed a sub-mW on-chip impedance detection technique to improve receiver sensitivity and transmitter efficiency.
