1.6-Tbps Ethernet traffic generator for AI and HPC testing

Teledyne LeCroy has introduced the Xena Z1608 Edun Ethernet Traffic Generator, which is a platform supporting 1.6-Tbps Ethernet with CR/KR-compliant 224G PAM4 signaling. The solution is designed for the rapidly growing demands of AI-driven and high-performance computing (HPC) networks.
For eeNews Europe readers, this development is particularly relevant as it could address the increasing need for scalable and standards-compliant Ethernet testing tools in advanced semiconductor, networking, and system validation workflows.
Next-generation Ethernet test requirements
The Xena Z1608 Edun is built for validating next-generation networking technologies in lab environments. Core test applications include semiconductor validation, multi-vendor interoperability, and network performance testing. With support for multiple Ethernet speeds (i.e., 1.6TE, 800GE, 400GE, 200GE, and 100GE), the generator offers flexibility across both 224G and 112G SerDes.
Its OSFP-1600 interface supports both optical and copper media, extending compatibility with a wide range of transceivers and cables. This makes it a versatile platform for evaluating AI accelerators, switches, NICs, and interconnect components in development and integration stages.
Software integration and protocol support
The new platform integrates with Teledyne LeCroy’s XenaManager software for ease of use, while also supporting the Python-based Xena OpenAutomation (XOA) suite for advanced automation. Test methodologies such as RFC2544, RFC2889, and Ultra Ethernet testing are supported, ensuring users can carry out performance, functional, and benchmark validation in line with industry standards.
According to Teledyne LeCroy, “With its compact design, broad protocol support, and unmatched performance, the Xena Z1608 Edun sets a new standard for Ethernet traffic generation—empowering developers to push the boundaries of speed, reliability, and innovation.”
The Xena Z1608 Edun Ethernet Traffic Generator is available now for ordering.
