The module complies with the 10Gbit/s Miniature Device Multi Source Agreement (XMD-MSA) and uses in CAN packaging suitable for mass production. The 0.6W power consumption is approximately 50% less than that of Mitsubishi Electric’s current FU-612REA model. EML operability at high temperatures allowed the thermo-electric coolers to be downsized too. The unit comes in a CAN-type package suitable for mass production, replacing box-type packaging used in conventional models. Other characteristics include a light emission central wavelength of 1,530 to 1,565nm, an output power of -2 to +2dBm, and an operating temperature range of -5 to +85ºC.
