Infineon Technologies has added new current ratings to its 1200V IGBT module families, completing the range for industrial drives and inverters.

The TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 Easy 1B and 2B IGBT module range now supports designs up to 11 kW in PIM and up to 22 kW in six-pack topologies with the latest IGBT micro-pattern trench technology. Designers can either increase the power for the Easy 2B module by replacing the IGBT4 with IGBT7 technology, or to reduce the footprint for the same power by replacing the Easy 2B IGBT4 with the Easy 1B IGBT7 in specific cases. Like the previous TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 Easy modules, the new current ratings are aimed at the design needs of industrial drives.

The TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 chip provides higher power density with reduced losses as well as a high level of controllability for drives applications. All the IGBT7 modules are designed to be backward pin compatible with the former generation TRENCHSTOP IGBT4 modules. This supports manufacurers in reducing the design cycle for any new inverter platform.

The micro-pattern trench process gives the IGBT7 chips lower static losses compared to the IGBT4 chips with the on-state voltage reduced by 20 percent. This brings significant loss reduction in the application, especially for industrial drives, which usually operate at moderate switching frequencies. The IGBT module ranges also feature a maximum allowed overload junction temperature of 175°C and have been optimised for softer switching.

The complete 1200 V TRENCHSTOP IGBT7 EasyPIM and EasyPACK IGBT module portfolio can be ordered now. Based on the design requirements, there are also solder pin and TIM variants available.
