The tandem power module approach boosts efficiency while balancing costs and benefits. The flowPACK 1 1200 V sixpack contains six IGBT4 power devices and twelve free-wheeling diodes in tandem. In some modules the DC connections are not connected together, leaving space for shunt measurement. Each tandem power module has an NTC or PTC temperature sensor alongside the power semiconductors for thermal management.

Power modules with a sixpack topology are most frequently used as inverters in frequency converters for motors. There are also applications in which a sixpack serves as an active front end for a feed-in, feedback or regenerative unit.

The family extends Vincotech’s line of power modules for motion control applications requiring higher switching frequencies and lower power loss. The family consists of several tandem power modules with IGBTs that cover currents from 25A to 75 A at room temperature. The tandem structure provides more current control capability and higher efficiency to reduce overall system costs.

All the tandem power module products ship in a flow 1 package with Press-fit pins. Every package shares the same pin-out and footprint, so drive manufacturers can easily re-use the same PCB design for various power applications. Versions with solder pins and phase-change material are available on request. Samples may be sourced on demand at

Vincotech is a group company of Mitsubishi Electric, developing and manufacturing power components for motion control, renewable energy, and power supply markets with a staff of 800 worldwide.
