12:1 ultra-wide input DC-DC converter for rail designs
Traco Power has launched 150W and 200W DC-DC converter families for railway applications with wide 12:1 input ratios.
The TEP 150UIR and TEP 200UIR railway-certified DC-DC converters include dedicated holdup capacitor connections to meet extended holdup-time requirements without the need for bulky input capacitors.
The wide 12:1 input voltage range from a 14–160 VDC supply also allows power engineers to target an array of nominal system voltages with a single design.
The half brick units measure 2.3 x 2.3 x 0.5in and are fully encapsulated with a –40°C to +105°C operating temperature. It has 3kV I/O isolation and includes remote on/off and trim function as well as protection against short-circuit (SCP), overvoltage (OVP) and overtemperature (OTP)
The TEP 150UIR and TEP 200UIR series are EN 50155 certified for applications on rolling stock. Additional certifications include EN 61373 for mechanical shock and vibration, EN 45545-2 for fire behaviour and IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 for IT and general-purpose industrial applications.
