The TC7718FTG 15W wireless power transmitter IC has been certified as compliant with the Qi v1.2 EPP (Extended Power Profile) by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and will charge systems as fast as a wired charger.

The TC7718FTG uses the CD-0.13um process for a small package and high efficiency, making system integration with a microcontroller easy in a small footprint. It combines a single channel full-bridge gate driver (that is also compatible with half-bridge) as well as built in low pass filter for recovery of the ASK signal and an integrated 3.3V low drop out LDO regulator. The operating voltage range is 4.5V to 25V and the operating frequency is 110kHz to 205kHz.

MP-A2 is a medium power coil format that simplifies system designs, and Toshiba claims to have the first 15W Qi-certified implementation.

The transmitter is suitable for use in wide range of applications including mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, and industrial devices. A wireless power transmitter system using TC7718FTG is also compatible with a 5W receiver system using Toshiba’s 5W TC7764WBG receiver, and a 10W receiver system using its 10W TC7765WBG receiver, both of which are in mass production. In combination with a 15W TC7766WBG receiver already certified as the Qi v1.2 EPP compliant, the wireless power system can receive up to 15W.
