To meet the necessary application requirements for the enrolment process of battery-powered devices at the in-vehicle charger, Infineon has developed the Optiga Trust Charge automotive – based on its extensive automotive and security expertise. With this, the company supports the development of next-generation charging solutions. With the security solution, Infineon addresses the fast-growing market of Qi-certified devices. Global sales of Qi-certified smartphones are expected to total 429 million this year, plus another 197 million chargers either bundled with these devices or sold in the aftermarket.

Optiga Trust Charge automotive is an embedded security solution with WPC-compliant provisioning and revocation capability, as well as Qi 1.3-compliant cryptography features such as ECDSA, NIST-P256 and SHA-256. The solution is AEC-Q100 Grade 2 qualified and offers in-field update capability, and also supports up to four certificate chains.

Furthermore, Optiga Trust Charge automotive enables manufacturers of wireless chargers or dedicated subsystems to quickly and easily design according to the latest Qi security requirements. It is a complete turnkey solution for fast time-to-market with full system integration support, including embedded software, a development board, a reference board and the necessary documentation for quick and easy design-in – ready for Qi 1.3. Host software for easy integration with the Aurix or Traveo II automotive microcontrollers is also included.

The personalised WPC keys and certificates are provisioned in secure Infineon facilities, so customers do not need to invest in additional security infrastructure.
