Based on a 64 Layer 3-Bit-per-Cell TLC (Triple-Level-Cell) BiCS FLASH and a PCIe Gen3x4 interface, the XD5 SSDs offer sequential read performance of up to 2,700MB/s and sequential write performance of up to 895MB/s at 7W power consumption. With a Drive Write Per Day (DWPD) value of 1, XD5 SSDs can be written daily with nearly 4TB random data for five years with a consistent performance rate. The random read and write performance is 250,000 and 21,000 I/O operations per second (IOPS), respectively, according to the vendor. This recommends the use of memory for read-intensive applications or workloads with high transaction volumes.
The flash memory and controllers contained in the new SSDs offer high reliability and data security as well as end-to-end error detection and power loss protection. The products come with a 5-year limited warranty.
The XD5 drives will be available during the second quarter of 2019.
