$2.5M seed round for Israeli startup to secure car ECUs
Karamba’s retrofit solution enables car companies to protect their automobiles from hackers by hardening Electronic Control Units (ECUs) that are open to external access (via the Internet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.), so they can’t be used to infiltrate the car’s network and launch attacks.
The company enables ECU and system providers to define factory settings for each ECU, generating a policy that creates whitelists of all ECU’s permitted program binaries, processes, scripts, network behaviour, etc. This policy is embedded within the externally connected ECU to ensure only explicitly allowed code and behavior may run on it.
Robust security detection and enforcement capabilities block any foreign code, which means the controller is safe from attackers, regardless of how they entered (via the internet, USB drive, service port, etc.), with no false alarms.
