This is the first commercially available PCB module using the HiAS2002 low power amplifier combined with the BC-05. It is fully Bluetooth SIG approved and shipped with A2DP, AVRCP, Apt-x audio profiles as standard and AAC enabled to ensure compatibility across the latest Samsung smartphones and Apple iOS products.

At the heart of the module is the HiAS2002 boost amplifier which delivers two channels of 15W burst power output into 8-ohm speaker drive units and extends battery life by up to 10 times at normal listening levels (offering more than 25 hours continuous playback), compared with Class-D amplifiers. The amplifier’s envelope-tracking technology eliminates harsh clipping at high audio levels, ensuring clear sound at all volumes. At moderate listening levels the HiAS2002 wastes much less power than other amplifier topologies. This gives longer running time between recharges and enables the use of smaller battery packs.

The DyadBA3 module may be entirely powered from a single 3.7V lithium-ion battery. The module incorporates circuitry for 500mA charging from a USB host or 1.5A charging from AC power adapters. It incorporates a stereo microphone input, making it also suitable for desktop or portable VoIP-phone audio portal applications.

Measuring110 x 46 x 29mm, the DyadBA3 module operates as a front-end to HiWave’s BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) speaker drive units. Pairing the module with two HiBM36S12-8/A BMRs creates the platform for a compact, fully portable Bluetooth stereo speaker capable of delivering room-filling sound. For greater volume and frequency range, a pair of HiWave’s HiBM65C20F-8 BMRs will deliver an even higher level of full-range, widely dispersed sound.

Caroline O’Brien, CEO of HiWave Audio, commented: “The introduction of a production-ready DyadBA3 gives manufacturers the ability to enter the Bluetooth-enabled wireless audio market immediately, with little or no engineering time beyond designing the enclosure. Besides dramatically reducing time to market by more than halving the design cycle time, the modules will guarantee amazing sound quality and class-leading battery life.”

HiWave is sampling the DyadBA3 (HiAM-DBA3-300) module with key customers and it will be available in mass production quantities and through HiWave’s channel partners in July 2013.
