Rohm Semiconductor has developed a 32bit digital-to-analog converter and evaluation board to support high fidelity audio equipment.
The chip is the BD34352EKV and the corresponding evaluation board is the BD34352EKV-EVK-001.
The BD34352EKV is a follow on from the BD34301EKV released in February 2021 and has been engineered so that it can be used in a broader range of equipment. The chip offers a S/N ratio of 126dB and total harmonic distortion of -112bB and has a customizable digital filter. This enables different sound quality tunings for each audio device.
Two filters
The sound is selectable by switching two kinds of digital FIR filters, sharp roll-off or slow roll-off. PCM interface supports up to 768kHz sampling rate and the DSD interface supports up to 22.4MHz.
The chip is packaged in a 64-pin QFP measuring 12mm by 12mm by 1mm. It is priced at $16 per unit and is available in volume. The evaluation board is available from distributors Digi-Key, Mouser and Farnell.
