TDK has launched a series of 25 to 36W external medical power supply series.

The DTM36-C8 is certified to the updated medical safety standards IEC 60601-1 and EN 60601-1-11 and compliant to EN 60601-1-2 Edition 4 for EMC. This means the external medical power supply design has a Class II input requiring no earth ground for for home healthcare, hospital, clinical, dental and life sciences applications for monitoring, imaging and diagnostic equipment.

The DTM36-C8 also meets the EU Tier 2 and DoE Level VI efficiency standards with an average efficiency level of 85 percent to 88.3 percent depending on the power supply model and an off-load power consumption of less than 75mW.

The external medical power supply series has variants with nine commonly used output voltages, ranging from 5 to 48Vdc. The wide 80 to 264Vac input operating range is applied through a standard IEC 60320-C8 (2-pin) inlet socket. The output cable is terminated with a straight 5.5 x 2.1 x 12mm (OD x ID x L) connector, with other types of connectors and cable assemblies available on request.

The rugged plastic enclosure is vent-free (IP21) and measures 100mm in length, 45mm in width and 22.5mm in height. The DTM36-C8 can operate in ambient temperatures of -30 to 60ºC, derating linearly to 60 percent load from 40 to 60ºC.

The DTM36-C8 is certified to IEC/ES/EN 60601-1, meets IEC 60335-1 (Household Appliances) and carries the CE mark for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives. The input to output isolation is 4,000Vac (2 x MOPP) and the leakage current less than 80µA. The series complies with the EN 55011 (Class B) and EN 60601-1-2 Ed4 EMC standards.
