The device aims at car owners and fleet operators and is designed for retrofit installation. In comparison to individual 3G reception by each device via its own integrated antenna, the Funkwerk’s UMTS router offer better and more stable reception, the vendor promises. The reason: Inside the car, coated windows and the shielding effect of the car body result in less-than-optimal reception conditions. The router, in contrast, is connected to a separate external antenna which offers excellent reception under all conditions. The device receives UMTS, HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS signals; inside the vehicle it communicates with its "clients" via WiFi. Up to four users can connect to the router. With its operating temperature range from -20°C to +70°C it is suitable for any season.
