3GHz, entry-level spectrum analyser majors on sensitivity, low noise floor
The instrument will be of interest to a range of users in areas such as connected-devices who may not previously have had to make spectrum measurements. It is available in a single ‘build’ that can be enabled for 1, 2 or 3 GHz coverage (from 5 kHz) by unlocking the feature set via software. The FPC1000 provides a low noise floor level of –150 dBm (typ), which can be further extended to –165 dBm (typ) with an optional, keycode-activated preamplifier. Its high maximum input power allows users to measure RF signals up to +30 dBm (1W), 10 times more power than offered by other entry class spectrum analyzers. The combination of low noise floor and high max. input power results in a wide measurement dynamic range.
The instrument claims the best measurement resolution in its class with 1 Hz resolution bandwidth (RBW) and has a 10.1 in. (26 cm) display that has 2.6 times higher display resolution than commonly used. This high measurement and display resolution allows signals to be measured in razor-sharp detail.
The FPC1000 supports optional Wi-Fi connectivity in addition to wired Ethernet. With R&S InstrumentView for Microsoft Windows and the iOS/Android App based R&S MobileView platforms, measurements can be performed anywhere, anytime. The instrument has a starting price point, in its simplest enabled-feature configuration, of €1530.
