Designed with CMOS-BSI technology, the 2MP model FRA0261 comes in a chip scale packaging (CSP) only 4.1×3.9mm, allowing the design of endoscopes or camera modules under 6mm in diameter. The chip boasts a pixel size of 1.4×1.4µm, Full-HD resolution and a frame rate of 60 frames per second. The CMOS sensors are available for approximately half the current market price of competing CCD technology, claims the manufacturer. A “die” version is available which allows endoscope manufacturers to install the sensor for a better angle of sight based on optical requirements, in any position, for instance vertical or tilted. With the 2- or 4-lane MIPI interface, only a few cable connections are required between the sensor and the control unit. Another model in development, the FRA0100 will offer 1MP of resolution in a 3x3mm CSP for light and round small-size endoscopes used in cardiovascular surgeries, with a pixel size of 1.75×1.75µm.
