WaveRunner 8000 oscilloscopes have bandwidths from 500 MHz to 4 GHz, and have been designed, says LeCroy, to expedite solving debug problems, with the “widest and deepest” collection of tools. The scopes introduce the next-generation MAUI advanced user interface; the addition of OneTouch to MAUI makes measurement setup very easy, speeding up dramatically the time to insight into complex signal abnormalities.

The standard collection of math, measurement, debug, and documentation tools is augmented with application-specific packages that enable streamlined debugging for common design/validation scenarios. Options include digital filtering, spectrum analysis, device and switching power supply analysis. The advanced customisation option enables user-defined parameters and math functions providing unique and limitless analysis capability.

The WaveRunner 8000 and MAUI with OneTouch extends Teledyne LeCroy’s user-interface innovations. MAUI with OneTouch enables all common operations with a single touch of the display. MAUI with OneTouch has drag-and-drop actions to copy and set up channels, math functions, and measurement parameters without lifting a finger. Common gestures such as drag, drop, pinch, and flick facilitate instinctive interaction with the oscilloscope. The “Add New” button quickly enables a new channel, math, or measurement while traces and parameters turn off with a flick of a finger. MAUI with OneTouch, claims LeCroy, delivers a unique set of touchscreen gestures that simplifies measurement setup and brings unsurpassed efficiency and intuitiveness to oscilloscope operation.

A variety of application packages is available to meet all serial data test challenges, ranging from automated compliance packages to flexible debug toolkits. A suite of protocol specific measurement and eye diagram packages is available to complement the industry’s most intuitive trigger and decode packages.

Isolate events using the serial bus trigger and view colour-coded protocol information on top of analogue or digital waveforms. Timing and bus measurements allow quick and easy characterisation of a serial data system. Measurement data can be graphed to monitor system performance over time. Identify physical layer anomalies with eye diagram mask testing and mask failure locator.

Serial data analysis aids the user to understand and characterise a design, proving compliance, and to explain why a device or host fails compliance. The SDAII architecture provides fast updates and eye diagram creation. Combined with up to 128 Mpts record lengths and complete jitter decomposition tools, SDA II provides a fast and complete understanding of why serial data fails a compliance test. Advanced jitter decomposition methodologies and tools provide more information about root cause. Tj Analysis, RjBUj Analysis and DDj Analysis are simplified with the deepest toolset dedicated to providing the highest level of insight into your serial data signals.

A leading 40 Gsample/sec sample rate allows for a detailed edge reconstruction even for signals with the fastest rise times. Long memory allows for maximum sample rate to be maintained in longer timebases. Deep memory of 128 Mpts is ideal for debugging long term behaviour on high speed serial data buses.

A feature called QualiPHY is designed to reduce the time, effort, and specialised knowledge needed to perform compliance testing on high-speed serial buses. It guides the user through each test setup, performs each measurement in accordance with the relevant test procedure, compares each measured value with the applicable specification limits, fully documents all results, and QualiPHY helps the user perform testing the right way

Display area is effectively increased by use of four different “tabbed” oscilloscope grid displays, with individually selectable grid styles available for each tab. Quickly move waveforms to different tabs using drag-and-drop. Extended desktop supports Ultra HD (UHD) 3840 x 2160 pixel displays.

With the XDEV option, third party programs can be completely integrated into the oscilloscope’s processing stream. Create customised math functions and parameters using C/C++, MATLAB, Excel, JScript or Visual Basic without leaving the oscilloscope application – and view the results directly on the oscilloscope, in real-time.
