The component offers 95 percent efficiency at 2MHz and 96 percent efficiency at 1MHz and low EMI/EMC emissions. LT8640S caters for input voltages from 3.4V to 42V and can deliver up to 6A continuous output current and peak loads of &A at voltages as low as 0.97V making it suitable for industrial and automotive applications.
The LT8640S burst-mode operation keeps quiescent current to 2.5 microamps suitable for applications such as automotive always-on systems, which need to extend operating battery life.
The minimum dropout voltage is 100mV at 1A and the fast minimum on-time of 30ns enables 2MHz constant frequency switching from 16V to 1.5V.
The LT8640S’s 24-lead, 4mm x 4mm LQFN package and high switching frequency keeps external inductors and capacitors small, providing a compact, thermally efficient footprint.
