42V voltage regulator offers high EMI immunity
Vehicle environments today are equipped with numerous wireless applications, such as automotive aftermarket accessories, and in the future, other systems related to vehicle networking are expected to further increase the electromagnetic “base load” in the car. Due to the rapidly increasing EMI noise caused by such systems, countermeasures are needed to prevent this from negatively affecting the proper operation of other avionics systems. The new R1526 has been specially designed for this purpose and can reduce EMI noise in the RF bands from 10 MHz to 1 GHz, providing a stable and interference-free output voltage. Compared to previous generation products, the transient response has been significantly improved. Only small and short peaks occur in the output voltage due to input or load transients.
The new R1526 CMOS device is robust enough to operate under harsh conditions like cold cranking. It operates at 3.5 to 42 V (max. 50 V) and even tolerates short peak voltages from 60 V to a maximum of 200 ms. In addition, it has a high output voltage accuracy of 0.6%, making it a highly reliable power source.
The R1526 also has a number of safety features that protect the voltage regulator and other parts of the application from possible damage and failure. These include protection against overcurrent, short circuit, and overheating. The HSOP-8E package features a special pin layout arrangement that prevents a fault if adjacent pins are shorted.
Four different product quality classes are available for consumer, industrial and automotive markets (AEC-Q100 compliant soon). Target applications for this controller include applications with direct battery connection, ECUs, infotainment and dashboard systems.
