4G LTE ‘maker’ M2M modem project hosts u-blox module
In addition to offering high-speed TCP/IP over the LTE network for higher data-rate M2M applications and broader coverage, the Maker Modem is also provisioned for SMS enabling communication by text messages. The team created an open-source API making it easier for developers to use their favourite single-board computers or microcontrollers.
It also has a ready-to-use built-in antenna system, complemented by external antenna access for use in more rural areas, and comes with two data-port connections (USB connection and two-wire serial interface for low-power microcontrollers). The Maker Modem is looking to be certified in the US, before targeting the European market.
