The wireless power chipset now supports 5 Watt power transfer and is compatible with the Qi Standard Low Power Specifications version 1.1.  Features include a Foreign Object Detection (FOD) function and an integrated digital logic controller that reduces component count and minimizes design complexity.

The chipset is designed to meet the growing demand for fast and efficient wireless charging of smartphones, game controllers and portable devices. One emerging application for wireless charging is for waterproof mobile gadgets where a device is fully enclosed in its housing with no exposed connections.

Built with Toshiba’s mixed-signal process with optimized MOSFET design, the chipset achieves high-efficiency wireless charging performance. The TB6865FG integrates an MCU that can drive 4 external MOSFET H Bridges of 4 coils for a free positioning architecture supporting two mobile devices. The TC7763WBG receiver combines modulation and control circuitry with a rectifier power pickup, built-in Linear Dropout Regulator (LDO) and circuit protection functions. The transmitter IC is housed in LQFP-100 14×14 mm package and the receiver IC is supplied in a compact WCSP-28 2.4 mm x 3.67 mm x 0.5 mm package.

The TC7761WBG IC has been awarded Qi certification for an output power of 3.5 Watt.
