50-W Ka-band power amplifier claims world’s smallest
At just 6.5 inches x 4 inches x 1 inch, the NanoMPM is designed for emerging Ka- Band global communications systems used in smaller-scale satellite programs. It can also be reconfigured to operate over a broader frequency range for compact electronic warfare programs.
Leveraging the company’s unique NanoMPM packaging technology, this Ka-Band power amplifier breaks the previous size, weight and power barriers that restricted small form factor designs. It performs in the 29 to 31 GHz range, and its consumed prime power from a common 28 VDC bus yields operational efficiency in the 25 percent range, which is significantly higher than other competing technologies, including gallium nitride. The power module is operable in either CW or pulse mode, with an environmental operating temperature range of -40 to +80°C.
