5000 lumen LED module simplifies design-in for lighting manufacturers
Sharp Intermo LED modules simplify inventory by combining three LED lighting components in one: a chip-on-board (CoB) emitter, holder and thermal interface. Solderless assembly means plug-and-play simplicity: manufacturers simply attach the module to its heat sink by two screws and push-fit electrical connections. The integrated thermal interface material (TIM) eliminates adhesives and grease, cutting manufacturing time and creating a low thermal-resistance path from the module to the heat sink. Sharp’s thermal management process then results in a module operating life of 50,000 hours.
Intermo modules come in two sizes: standard, 50 mm diameter x 6 mm high and slim, 44 mm dia. x 3.6 mm for space-constrained applications. They are available with attachment systems for relectors from a number of major makers and assisting upgrades. Standard modules have a Zhaga Book 3 form factor. (The Zhaga consortium develops interface specifications that enable interchangeability of LED light sources made by different manufacturers.) The modules’ compact CoB emitters are effective for collimating narrow, high-flux beams in spotlights and down lights.
Intermo modules are available with colour temperatures of 3000K or 4000K, CRI 80 or 90 to ensure natural colour rendering, and light flux categories of 3000 lm, 4000 lm or 5000 lm. Lighting consistency between modules is guaranteed to within 3 MacAdam ellipses.
