60mm thyristor modules add pressure contacts
The new Eco BLock modules from the Infineon Technologies Bipolar GmbH & Co. KG fab in Warstein, Germany, are aimed at battery chargers, static and bypass switches and wind turbines, as well as soft starters and rectifiers for drives and uninterruptable power-supply (UPS). The junction temperature of 135ºC allows them to be used in air-cooled designs.
The Eco Block modules feature all essential functions and make use of the pressure contact technology while stripping down costly extras. The modules include a short-on-fail feature which prevents arcing and simplifies the safety designs in terms of unit shielding and fusing effort.
The new 60 mm Eco Block family with pressure contact technology is available in high quantities. All modules are offered in the topologies thyristor/thyristor and thyristor/diode with a blocking voltage of 1600 V or 2200 V and in current ratings from 420 A to 630 A.
Additional module types in 70 mm are planned for release in the course of 2019, and Infineon plans to add pre-applied Thermal Interface Material (TIM) to the modules as well.
