The AKM36/AKM45/AKM65 series all meet the latest US Department of Energy (DoE) Level VI and EU CoC Tier 2 energy efficiency requirements while offering 2 x MOPP medical-grade isolation and very low no-load power consumption.

The AC input for all versions is 90 -260VAC for worldwide use and outputs available include 9V, 12V, 15V, 18V, 24V, 30V, 36V and 48V depending on the model. The supplies feature 4kVAC isolation rating, 5000m altitude operation and safety approvals to UL/EN/IEC 60950 for IT equipment and EN/IEC/CSA/ANSI-AAMI ES 60601-1 for medical equipment with 2 levels of patient protection (2 x MOPP).

The 36W part is class II, earth-free construction, while this is an option on the 45W and 65W versions. Input connectors are IEC320-C8 ‘figure of eight’ type for class II parts and IEC320-C14 type when class I is specified. This connector can be provided with an optional cable restraint for applications when accidental disconnection would be critical. Output connection is via a flying lead with standard jack plug.

Applications include portable equipment for medical monitoring and diagnostics, cosmetic treatment, environmental monitoring, test and measurement and mobile communications. Casing for the parts is plastic with an optional white colouring to match medical environments.

“These flexible desktop power supplies, backed up by our three-year warranty, are a great solution when our customers require a low-cost external power supply giving industry-leading performance and compliance with the latest energy efficiency and safety standards,” said Steve Head, Executive Director of XP Power.

The series is available from Digi-Key, element14, Farnell, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power and the supplies come with a 3-year warranty.
