9mm exciters combine stereo sound and haptics for touch screens
With two independent channels, the exciters can generate stereo audio, with a nominally flat response from 200Hz to 15kHz. Each exciter consists of a 9mm diameter voice coil mounted on plastic suspension. Overall height is 6mm and width 12mm, making it the smallest moving coil transducer in HiWave’s range.
When used with a HiWave driver module, a pair of HIHX09C5-8 exciters maximises bending waves at specific locations and frequencies, enabling tactile feedback on virtual keypads and sliders. Users experience the same ‘feel’ as if they were using electromechanical keys and sliders. The exciters are designed for use with touch screens up to 12“ diagonal, have a power handling capability of 0.5W rms and nominal drive impedances of 4, 8, or 16 Ohms.
