Management consultancy Accenture plc now amassed a team of more than 1,000 engineers offering chip design services.

Accenture has acquired Cientra Techsolution Pvt. Ltd., a 530-person chip design and engineering services company in Bangalore, India.

This follows on from the acquisition of Excelmax Technologies also a Bangalore, India based semiconductor design services provider a few days before, and of XtremeEDA an Ottawa, Canada-based silicon design services company, in 2022.

The terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

Cientra was founded in 2015 and offers consulting expertise in embedded IoT and ASIC design and verification.

Karthik Narain, group chief executive responsible for technology at Accenture, said that the proliferation of AI was driving demand for novel chips. “Our acquisition of Cientra is our latest move to expand our silicon design and engineering capabilities and it underscores our commitment to helping our clients maximize value and reinvent themselves in this space.”

Anil Kempanna, CEO of Cientra, said: “Joining Accenture provides exciting opportunities to expand globally and scale our capabilities to create new avenues of growth for our clients as well as our people.”

Founded in 2019, Excelmax provides custom chips for use in consumer devices and data centers, for artificial intelligence (AI) and computational platforms to clients in the automotive, telecommunications and high-tech industries. The company has 450 staff that offer services from high-level design down to detailed physical layout ready for manufacturing, and turnkey execution. This includes both analog circuit and logic design and verification.
