Acrich2 LED module doubles service life, halves energy consumption
According to the manufacturer, the Acrich2 modules are characterized by long operating lifespan, low energy consumption and comfortable design options. The modules will be available in versions with 4W, 8W, 12W and 16W. They can replace conventional incandescent bulbs in the 40W, 60W and 100W class as well as MR16 halogen lamps and downlights.
The Acrich2 concept translates into an efficiency of 90%. The power factor is specified at better than 95%; total harmonic distortion is lower than 25%. With these characteristics, the new modules meet legal requirements in several countries including the US Department of Energy.
In most LED lamps in use today electrolyte capacitors are in use, which however at high ambient temperature feature a relatively high failure probability. These components are responsible for the relatively short life expectancy of typically less than 10.000 operating hours. Other available products have power factors of only around 0,5. Thus, though their efficacy of 100lm/W is comparable to Seoul’s Acrich2, their efficiency at LED level is much lower.
