Chip designer and solutions provider Goodix Technology (Shenzen, China) is expanding its range of touch controllers for in-vehicle displays with the GA687X single-chip solution, which supports large displays from 12.3 to 27 inches diagonal.

The increasing size of infotainment touchscreens brings several challenges due to signal attenuation and noise increase. To ensure that larger screens are responsive and sensitive to user touch, the GA687X chip design is based on a custom high-performance processing core with several innovative hardware-based driver circuits. The chip achieves a refresh rate of up to 250 Hz, well above the industry average, and achieves a response time of 10 ms or better to allow users to control functions without latency. The solution also features a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to dramatically increase the noise resistance of the display.

The reliability of automotive touchscreen controllers is essential for driving safety, so the GA687X features Goodix’s proprietary anti-interference technology to achieve superior electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). It complies with the CISPR 25 Class 5 EMI standard, which international automotive manufacturers require to ensure stable operation and withstand the various electromagnetic disturbances in the vehicle.

In addition, the solution features the world’s leading capacitive charging capacity with an optimised chip design and supports the evolving trend of curved or custom-shaped displays in future cockpits by adapting to various screen setups, including flexible AMOLED on-cell touchscreens.

Goodix’s series of automotive touch solutions, which support the full range of screen sizes, meet the requirements of the AEC-Q100 and IATF 16949 automotive standards and are recognised by global mainstream automotive customers in the Japanese, South Korean, US, European and Chinese markets.
