Measurement equipment provider Aeroflex, Inc. announced that it plans to acquire its hitherto technology partner in the segment of virtual testing, Shennick Network Systems. With the move, Aeroflex intends to expand its activities in the seminal market of virtual testing for software-defined networking.

Having already partnered for several years with Shennick, Aeroflex now decided to take over the Dublin, Ireland based company which is said to be a pioneer in the IP test and measurement market. Shenick helped Aeroflex to enhance the latter’s capabilities in wireless infrastructure testing. In this context, Shenick’s TeraVM software played a significant role – it enables Aeroflex customers to emulate and measure IP applications flows and thus support network and application development as well as performance testing in next-generation networks. Typical users of this software are wireless telecommunication providers and large commercial organisations.

Aeroflex did not elaborate on the financial terms of the acquisition. However, the company explained in a statement that it expects the acquisition to be neutral to its fiscal 2014 financial results and accretive to its fiscal 2015 financial results.
