The family is now available with three separate base versions. The top-of-the-line U1084A-001 features sampling rates up to 4GS/s and a fully featured front-end with 1.5GHz bandwidth. It’s now complemented by two new versions that offer up to 2GS/s (-002) and 1GS/s (-003) sampling rates, respectively.

All versions are dual-channel and have an interleaved single-channel mode for maximum sampling-rate performance. In addition, the units incorporate advanced triggering capabilities, including a 15ps trigger time interpolator (TTI) for accurate timing measurements.   The U1084A architecture can perform specific post-processing tasks, which are easily uploaded into the FPGA under program control. They also redefine the way data acquisition can be performed, offering flexibility and easy reconfigurability.

The standard digitiser firmware (-DGT) enables the digitised data to be stored in large (up to 512Mbyte) on-board memory. The option also provides smart memory management with segmentation mode and trigger time-stamp functionality.   In addition to the standard digitiser functionality, the optional ping-pong memory buffer architecture (-DGS) allows hundreds of thousands of analog signals per second to be simultaneously acquired and transferred over the lightening fast PCIe bus.

The signal peak detection firmware (-TDC) histograms successive acquisitions. The resulting histogram bins contain peak counts or summed peak amplitudes. Up to 60Mpeaks/s can be accumulated, while having a trigger jitter of just 250ps.   Alternatively, a real-time sampling and averaging firmware (-AVG) can average from 1 to 16 million waveforms with trigger rates up to 500kHz. Signal averaging can be used to reduce random noise effects, improving the signal-to-noise ratio as well as increasing overall resolution and dynamic range.

The U1084A high-speed digitiser technology is optimised for size and power so that it can be plugged directly into almost any available PCIe slot. This digitiser card is footprint and software compatible as well as upgradeable. It provides higher ADC sampling rates, faster measurement throughput and even more flexibility to OEMs and many test and measurement engineers, while maintaining precision and cost effectiveness.
