The Vista-Edge is a plug-and-play system that comes pre-installed with the necessary software and tools to display and analyze the 3D point cloud of the lidar. With this Software Development Kit (SDK) and the included sample software, companies can quickly develop their own product-specific software for the use of Cepton lidar sensors. Buyers are also eligible to upgrade to the Perception Evaluation Kit as it becomes available during 2019.

The device is characterized by its compact, lightweight design and has 1 Gb Ethernet, HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. It can also be used in IoT and Wi-Fi networks. The system is immediately ready for use and only takes a few minutes to view the lidar’s data.

“Lidar-based object recognition and tracking can complement traditional image-based solutions,” said Murali Gopalakrishna, Head of Product Management Autonomous Machines at NVIDIA. “Cepton’s device delivers rich 3D data that makes it easy for our customers to combine the performance of Nvidia AI with the sensor capabilities of the Cepton lidar.

Cepton recently launched two Lidar products: Vista-M and Vista-X. Both Lidar sensors are suitable for all levels of autonomous driving. Together with Celestica, Cepton is starting series production of its lidar portfolio this year and will start mass production in 2020.
