AI EDA startup keeps business model options open
In a “Zoom” interview, Celera CEO Abid Hussain told eeNews Europe: “It’s too early to type us” and he sought to clarify a previous article that described Celera as an EDA tools company (see Artificial intelligence speeds analog/mixed-signal design).
Hussain said that as a young startup it was important that Celera initially engages deeply with relatively few customers, before making its technology available to a broader audience. He said these deep and early dealings can involve using the company’s platform internally and doing design work as a service, or providing IP cores. Hussain said it was important for Celera to learn from these engagements and tune the business model to suit customers.
Hussain said that Celera’s AI-based platform sits on top of conventional EDA tools and provides a speed up from design start to tape-out productivity of between 50 and 100x.
