Ambient/Infrared sensor for handheld, PC, TV and industrial displays
ISL29035 is a compact ambient and infrared sensor. The 6-lead digital light sensor and addresses the latest requirements for angular response and sensitivity to various light sources in handheld, PC, TV and industrial display applications. It enables the automatic adjustment of display brightness based on the ambient light conditions to improve the user experience and extend battery life. The ISL29035 sensor offers angular response of a minimum of ± 35% field of view at 50% light intensity. The wide dynamic range of 0.01 lux to 64,000 lux enhances users’ visual experience while using minimal power. A lux range select feature allows users to program display brightness to suit various ambient light conditions.
The sensor’s advanced self-calibrated photodiode arrays emulate human eye response, providing excellent infrared (IR) light rejection. An on-chip charge-balancing 16-bit ADC rejects 50 Hz and 60 Hz flicker caused by artificial light sources. In addition, the ISL29035 integrates a light-to-digital converter with an I2C (SMBus Compatible) interface to eliminate the need for a current amplifier, and ADC for interfacing to a system processor. The 6-lead digital light sensor measures 1.5 x 1.6 x 0.75 mm and functions under all light sources, including sunlight. It costs $0.58 (1000) the eval board is ISL29035IROZ-EVAL, $49.
