AMOLED market to triple by 2015
South Korean manufacturers currently have something like a monopoly in the AMOLED realm – they claim more than 95 % of this market – no matter if we look at large of small and medium-size AMOLED panels. However, competitors from China, Taiwan and Japan are still active – or, as Digitimes Research puts it, they have by no means abandoned their efforts to compete in these market segments.
With their thin, light structure and high image quality, many regard AMOLED panels as the display technology of the future. Nevertheless, the AMOLED market faces a number of challenges, in particular from full HD and higher resolution small LCD panels as well as UHD LED TV panels. These threads, writes Digitimes Research in a current study, could push back AMOLEDs adoption as the next generation of mainstream display technology. In addition, the report analyses the potential future positons and opportunities for panel manufacturers in China, Taiwan and Japan. The report is available for US$ 1,685 at Digitimes Research.
