Ampere acquires development team to lead on software defined vehicles
Automotive system developer Ampere is to acquire a team of embedded system engineers in Tunisia from Actia.
The company signed a software expertise sharing agreement signed in the first half of 2024 with Actia, a French group that makes diagnostic products and on-board electronics systems for car, truck, bus, and motorcycle manufacturers with 1450 engineers. It also makes telematics products like GPS, fleet management, and remote diagnostics and satellite communications and control systems.
The collaboration foresees the integration of a dedicated team developed by Actia in Tunisia with recognized technological expertise into Ampere. The aim is to accelerate the development of software activities around Software Defined Vehicle. This team will be in charge of software development, architecture and diagnosis technology.
Ampere, a spin out of Renault, is the first European intelligent pure EV company, designing, developing, manufacturing and marketing full electric vehicles with leading edge software technology.
The company plans to have the first European SDV EV in 2026 with FlexEVan, working with Qualcomm and Google as well as four battery suppliers based in Europe.
