The MPW prototyping service combines several designs from multiple customers onto a single wafer and by sharing the costs of wafers and mask sets and provides economic access to low volume supply.

The shuttle runs will include a range of 0.18- and 0.35-micron specialty processes and access to voltage-scalable high-voltage transistor devices recently introduced (see Mixed signal foundry offers scalable transistors in HV CMOS). HV processes support transistor operation at up to 120V with functions designed in support of industrial and automotive applications.

Almost 150 MPW start dates in 2016 will be supported by cooperation with partner organizations such as CMP, Europractice, Fraunhofer IIS and Mosis.  Customers located in the Asia-Pacific region may also participate via the Toppan Technical Design Center Co. Ltd (TDC) and MEDs Technologies.

The design flow is supported by physical design kits (PDK) based on Cadence, Mentor and Keysight ADS design software. Customers deliver completed GDS-II data on specific dates and receive untested, packaged samples or bare die with about 8 weeks for CMOS and 12 weeks for high-voltage CMOS, SiGe-BiCMOS and embedded flash processes.

The complete schedule for 2016 is available at www.ams.com/MPW.
