Barcelona-based Test Motors designs products and offers services that detect faults in electric motors before they can affect production cycles. The company also offers advice on how and when to repair them. The acquisition is intended to expand ADI’s portfolio of condition-based monitoring solutions.

It supplements Analog Devices’ purchase of OtoSense last year. Otosense designs “sensing interpretation” software that can learn and recognise sounds or vibration and identify potential problems in a machine or a car engine before they cause noticeable problems. OtoSense’s AI platform interprets sensing, allowing the monitoring of assets. ADI will combine OtoSense software with Test Motors’ monitoring capabilities to bring solutions that can provide an advanced, holistic snapshot of machine health.

The Test Motors team will join ADI’s Automation and Energy Group and operate as a key technology group. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
