The suit list eight patents related to the use of dithering to improve ADC linearity, the use of timing circuits to compensate for process, voltage and temperature variations, amongst other techniques.

The lawsuit has been filed in the District Court for the District of Delaware and seeks damages and an injunction that prevents Xilinx from selling infringing products.

Xilinx has said in a statement that it will defend itself against the action. “We created what many thought could not be done with the introduction of the Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC – the industry’s only single-chip adaptable radio platform. Through its patent lawsuit, Analog Devices has chosen to litigate rather than compete in the market,” the statement said.
